Other/Other/Other at the Royal Opera House

Posted in Uncategorized on November 8, 2009 by otherotherother

Classical

Three members of Other/Other/Other will be performing (probably for the last time in its present state) ‘Longwinded in Five Parts’ on Friday 20th/Saturday 21st November. It will be programmed as part of the Royal Opera House Firsts 09 and it’s looking like we will have an audience of 400 each night…who said Live Art only attracts small audiences?!

LONGWINDED IN FIVE PARTS
OTHER/OTHER/OTHER
A live art performance in the guise of a classical concert, and an absurd exploration of sound, space and material. Three performers present a mixture of highly choreographed and improvised scenarios, led by a musical score which is designed to explore five aspects of the musical potential of modelling balloons. ‘A lighthearted triumph that had me giggling from subdued start to cathartic finish.’

‘Longwinded in Five Parts’ is supported by Norwich Arts Centre

Tickets are £5 each and are selling out fast! Go to the Royal Opera House website to book.

Other/Other/Other on Future Radio

Posted in Uncategorized on September 9, 2008 by otherotherother

Kate Roma from Future Radio came to see our “Weekend of Art That’s Difficult to Describe” for ‘Platform’ (the weekly programme for arts and culture in Norwich).

You can listen to her tour of the event by going to http://podcast.futureradio.co.uk/

Our Next Public Event:

Posted in Uncategorized on August 4, 2008 by otherotherother

‘Other/Other/Other’ need an audience! The public are invited to ‘Unit 5’ to witness the process and progress of artists in Norwich who make “art that’s difficult to describe”.

Following the launch of the Norwich artists’ collective ‘Other/Other/Other’, seven members aim to find out a bit more about each other’s work and allow the public to access to this process. Throughout the weekend the space will act as a canvas for all manner of location-responsive, creative endeavours: sounds, videos, durational performances and more.

Other/Other/Other artists aim for their exhibitions to begin with works being devised, developed and made as a group. On the 30th and 31st August, seven artists will undertake the first of these unique public projects.

During the weekend John Boursnell will be exploring tape loops and live editing; Bev Broadhead will be sending mobile phone video updates of her whereabouts; Dot Howard will be making live video work in the space and surrounding streets; Michael Ridge will construct a circuit-bending extravaganza from locally sourced toys; and Holly Rumble will be making surfaces audible with contact mics.

The artists will also be documenting and responding to each other’s work throughout the weekend.

The event is free, and open to the public 12-5pm on both days.

Next Meeting

The next “show and tell” will be in the Playroom at the Playhouse bar on St. Georges Street, Norwich. We’ll  be planning a public event, so if you’re interested in putting some ‘art that’s difficult to describe’ into Norwich’s public domain, come along.
