Thanks to all the performers and audience who attended the live art platform on 6th December at Norwich Arts Centre. It was great to test out ideas and to have feedback at the end. See the new page ‘Live Art Platform NAC’ for a few grainy photos. For the next one, I’ll sort out some better filming…

Calling Artists in the Eastern Region…

Posted in Work on November 23, 2008 by otherotherother

O/O/O Eastern Region Project
To take place in April/May 2009

Other/Other/Other is preparing a funding application for an exciting new project, and would like to hear from practitioners in the Eastern region. The artists will be commissioned to make a piece of live work in, and about, a place they have built a relationship with. The ‘performances’ will take place over a few weeks, linked by a widely distributed tourist map. We intend to create an alternative route around the region, taking in ephemeral events instead of permanent structures, developing the audience’s awareness of these alternative practices and of how buildings can be re-imagined. The map will show where the artists’ work is/was, including the live dates, and a website will be built to house documentation as it appears.

To be considered for the project please present a 300 word proposal, including the name of the place and your relationship to it, a single A4 CV, and 3 images of previous work.

When writing the proposal, please refer to the Other/Other/Other manifesto (on the “About” page). We support live, durational, and site-specific work. Please consider how the work will exist afterwards as documentation on the website. Do you want to make a straight video document, or would it be more appropriate to write about the experience? Let us know if you have made contact with the owner of the place, and have their support, OR if you are going to do a surreptitious work without their permission.

Deadline for proposals: 13th December
Email to: otherotherother(at)live.com

We will be submitting our funding application in early January, based on these proposals.

Other/Other/Other on Future Radio

Kate Roma from Future Radio came to see our “Weekend of Art That’s Difficult to Describe” for ‘Platform’ (the weekly programme for arts and culture in Norwich).

You can listen to her tour of the event by going to http://podcast.futureradio.co.uk/

Our Next Public Event:

Posted in Uncategorized on August 4, 2008 by otherotherother

‘Other/Other/Other’ need an audience! The public are invited to ‘Unit 5’ to witness the process and progress of artists in Norwich who make “art that’s difficult to describe”.

Following the launch of the Norwich artists’ collective ‘Other/Other/Other’, seven members aim to find out a bit more about each other’s work and allow the public to access to this process. Throughout the weekend the space will act as a canvas for all manner of location-responsive, creative endeavours: sounds, videos, durational performances and more.

Other/Other/Other artists aim for their exhibitions to begin with works being devised, developed and made as a group. On the 30th and 31st August, seven artists will undertake the first of these unique public projects.

During the weekend John Boursnell will be exploring tape loops and live editing; Bev Broadhead will be sending mobile phone video updates of her whereabouts; Dot Howard will be making live video work in the space and surrounding streets; Michael Ridge will construct a circuit-bending extravaganza from locally sourced toys; and Holly Rumble will be making surfaces audible with contact mics.

The artists will also be documenting and responding to each other’s work throughout the weekend.

The event is free, and open to the public 12-5pm on both days.
